Pan-fried pork chops paired with caramelized apples make a hearty, satisfying dinner that comes together in about 30 minutes. The apples cook down in the same skillet, picking up the savory drippings for a simple sweet-and-savory pan sauce. No special equipment needed — just one pan and a handful of everyday ingredients.
Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper.
Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until both sides are golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 63°C (145°F). Remove from the skillet and set aside to rest.
In the same skillet, add the butter. Once melted, add the apple slices. Sprinkle with thyme and cook for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized.
Return the pork chops to the skillet with the apples and heat through for an additional 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
Notes
For an added depth of flavor, consider a splash of apple cider vinegar to the apples during cooking.
