A Chicago-style hot dog is an all-beef frank served in a poppy seed bun and loaded with a specific set of toppings: yellow mustard, chopped onion, neon relish, tomato slices, a dill pickle spear, sport peppers, and celery salt — no ketchup. The combination of tangy, briny, and savory toppings is what defines the style. Assembly takes just minutes once the franks are heated.

Instructions
Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
Using the tongs, place the all-beef hot dogs on the grill. Cook for about 7-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are charred and heated through.
While the hot dogs are grilling, lightly toast the poppy seed hot dog buns on the edge of the grill or in a separate pan.
Place a grilled hot dog into each toasted bun.
Top each hot dog with a dollop of yellow mustard, then layer with chopped onions, sweet pickle relish, and a tomato wedge.
Add two sport peppers and a dill pickle spear alongside each hot dog.
Finish each with a sprinkle of celery salt for an authentic touch.
Notes
Jen’s Tips:
For an extra layer of flavor, sprinkle the buns with poppy seeds before toasting.
Consider using smoked paprika to give a twist on the traditional recipe.
If sport peppers are hard to find, pepperoncini can be a suitable substitute, giving the same heat element without overpowering the flavor.
